How do I manage several AI agents without babysitting chat windows?
Stop managing chats and start managing jobs: keep one list of jobs, give each job one agent or person as owner, and set a clear finish line. Then check in at set times instead of watching each window, and only step in when a job is stuck or needs your call.
1. Keep one list of jobs
Write every active job in one place: a doc, a board or a spreadsheet. Each line has the goal, the owner, the status and the next check-in.
If a job is not on the list, no agent should be working on it.
Keep the list short enough to read in one minute. If it grows too long, finish or drop old jobs before you start new ones.
2. Give each job one owner
Two agents on the same task tend to overwrite each other. Pick one agent or one person per job.
Give each agent a short brief it can reread: goal, limits, what done looks like.
3. Define done before you start
"Improve the signup page" never ends. "Add an email field and a thank-you message" does.
A clear finish line lets you check the result in a minute instead of rereading the whole chat.
4. Check in on a schedule
Pick two or three times a day to review. Look at what finished, what is stuck and what needs a decision.
Between check-ins, close the windows. Constant watching costs you the focus you wanted to save.
5. Keep decisions in one place
When you approve, reject or change something, write it down next to the job. Agents forget between sessions. Your notes do not.
This also helps your own people see what was decided without asking you again.
Over time, these notes become your playbook. New agents and new team members can read it and start faster.

Get startedQuestions
- How many AI agents can one founder manage?
- It depends on how clear the jobs are. A few well-defined jobs are easier to run than many vague ones. Start small and add more when check-ins feel easy.
- Do I need special software to manage agents?
- No. A shared list and set check-in times go a long way. Tools can help once the habit is in place.
- What if two agents need the same files?
- Run those jobs one after the other, or split the work so each agent owns different files.
