How do I run a one-person company with AI agents?

Keep the decisions yourself, hand repeatable jobs to AI tools you check, and bring in people for work that needs judgment or a human touch. Run it all from a short list of goals and a weekly review, so you spend your time on calls, not on chasing tasks.

1. Write down a few clear goals

Pick two or three goals for the next quarter, like more paying customers or faster support replies. Every job should serve one of them.

Write each goal so you can tell if it happened. "Reply to every support message within a day" is clearer than "better support".

2. List your repeatable jobs

Write down what you do every week: replying to leads, onboarding, support, reports, small fixes, content.

Repeatable jobs with clear steps are the best fit for AI tools.

3. Match each job to an owner

For each job, choose: you, an AI tool you check, or a person you hire part time. Keep sales calls, pricing and key customer talks with you.

Give each owner a short written brief.

Start with one job. Hand it off, check it for two weeks, then hand off the next one. Moving everything at once makes problems hard to trace.

4. Check the work, not the process

Look at results: was the reply sent, was the bug fixed, did the lead get a follow-up. Do not watch every step.

Spot-check AI work often at first, then less as it proves reliable.

5. Run a weekly rhythm

Once a week, review goals, results and stuck jobs. Decide what to stop, what to fix and what to do next.

A steady rhythm keeps a small company from drifting.

Keep the review to under an hour. Use the same short list of questions every week so it becomes a habit, not a chore.

Questions

Can one person really run a company with AI?
Many solo founders use AI tools to handle more work than they could alone. You still need clear goals, good judgment and, often, a few people for some jobs.
What should I never hand to AI?
Final calls on money, legal matters, hiring and sensitive customer issues. Use AI to prepare, and decide yourself.
When should I hire my first person?
When a job needs human judgment or trust, and it takes more of your time than the decisions only you can make.
